Alumni Seminar: Tax Development in Hong Kong on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting - Common Issues & Consideration

 

In July, the HKSAR Government has released the consultation report on measures to counter base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) by enterprises, an amendment bill is planned to be introduced into the Legislative Council by the end of 2017.

To give an overview of the latest development of BEPS to our alumni, we are presenting an Alumni Seminar: “Tax Development in Hong Kong on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting - Common Issues & Consideration” on 30 Nov, featuring Victor Lee, BBA(ACCT)-FA 1998 alumnus and Partner of PwC Hong Kong.

The event is organized by the School with the support from HKUST Accounting Alumni Association and Accounting Students' Society, HKUSTSU. Come to get the industry insights and meet with fellow alumni in the profession.

Victor Lee – Partner, PwC Hong Kong

Victor is a Tax Partner in the China Global Structuring Service team of PwC Hong Kong. With over 15 years of tax and accounting experience, Victor's major clients are multinational companies as well as Hong Kong listed companies in retail and industrial product industries with business operations in Hong Kong, China and other countries in Asia. He has extensive experience in advising clients on Hong Kong and international tax aspects, which include corporate restructuring, value-chain structuring, cross-border transaction, tax dispute resolution and transfer pricing.
Victor is part of the PwC Global Structuring Services Group, assisting clients in M&A projects which include consultations on investment structure, profits repatriation, entrance and exit strategy, financing structure, tax due diligence and post-deal restructuring. Targets are usually located in Hong Kong, China and Asia Pacific in various industries, such as retail, industrial and consumer products, e-business, transportation, etc. He also works closely with PwC overseas firms to provide holistic solutions to his clients.
Victor is a Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Prof Sabrina Kwan – Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Accounting  

Sabrina is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Accounting at HKUST Business School. She started her career at Big 4 accounting firm and obtained her master and PhD degrees from the London Business School. She has over 10 years’ experience in teaching taxation courses at HKUST. Her research interests focus on taxation, accounting and capital markets and has published in various top accounting journals. She is also a member of HKICPA and ACCA. 
A passionate educator, she has been awarded the HKUST Franklin Prize for Teaching Excellence and has served as the advisor for the Accounting Alumni Association and the Accounting Students' Society, HKUSTSU.
